Flower Power
Flowers are gateways to distant places. The aromas of less encountered blossoms remind us of places far from home.
Marigolds are citrus and spice.
Pineapple flowers are, well, pineapple-y. They don't come from pineapple plants, they are a species related to chamomile.
We grew both flowers in our organic garden. We made a tincture with each and added them to a barrel aged cider from Ida Red apples.
What's it like?: It smells like aged honey, lemon zest and orange creamsicles, garnished with chamomile blossoms. Those sweet notes are balanced by a delicate astringency, like a whisper of juniper, or orange pith.
The high abv gives it weight and wine-like body. Flower Power is is the truest essence of these summer blossoms.
