Coat Jersey 2022
The Coat Jersey apple originated in the U.K almost 200 years ago. It's one of those characterful old world apples that has just as much personality as any wine grape. Tannic and low acid, it brings a huge smile to our faces.
Our first vintage was from 2018—this is our second, harvested in 2022. Wild fermented, bottled and left for a month to settle in glass, it's finally ready.
What's it like?: This vintage of Coat Jersey is hard to pin down. Big tannins and low acid are a combination we usually see in orange wine.
This cider has a specific petrichor aroma—like the morning air lifted from a campfire where you used old cider barrels as kindling.
The apple tannins are chewy and plush, like an orange wine made from Chenin Blanc. Think honeysuckle, hazelnuts and bruised apples.
Pair with walnuts, lamb, aubergine, squash or tahini.
69 cases made.
(After a half decade of orchards planting Coat Jersey, we're thrilled to finally price it for a bit of a steal 😘)
