Hi there,
My name is Tariq.
I'm the founder of Revel Cider, but you can just call us Revel. We make a heck of a lot more than cider after all.
Back in 2014, I was in university studying, but I'd always had an interest in unique flavours—the more obscure the ingredients, the better. I fell in love with fruit back in high school, after reading The Fruit Hunters by Adam Leith Gollner.
Like many university students, I was discovering alcohol for the first time. I was drinking mass produced cider because there wasn't any good stuff available back then, and I certainly couldn't afford it if it existed.
After a year, my palate was shot from all the sugary ciders. I moved to an organic farm for a summer internship, and decided to try my hand at fermenting my own.
When I went back to school the next fall, I was hooked on making dry ciders. I'd host murder mystery parties with my roommates and run a less-than-legal cash bar, selling my homemade fermentations in order to buy more apples for my next experiment.
After endless hours of research, trial and error, (and a small grant from the university) Revel was born.
Since 2014, we've been on a mission to create some of the best ciders in Canada. And in 2020, ratebeer.com awarded us the title of 3rd best cidery in the world.
But what does a beer website know right?
So while you could say I wasted my time at uni not getting a degree, I love that I'm able to bring my love for whimsical flavours to others that share the urge to drink better things.
Anyways, I just wanted to say thanks for supporting us all this time. It's been a stressful year and a half all around.
I don't have anything new to sell you today, I just wanted to say thanks.
So thank-you.
Best,
Tariq
