Best of Both Worlds
Best of Both Worlds is a strawberry mint aperitif.
We don't do many 'obvious' pairings, but strawberries and mint just work.
Botanicals and fruit are the two worlds we live in, and these are two of the classics.
Made from a base of Gewürztraminer, Zweigelt, strawberries and mint, it's simple but lends itself to so many cocktails (plus it's delightful on its own).
What's it like?: In aroma, mint is a half step ahead of the strawberries, but they aren't far behind.
The strawberries are weightier here than in our strawberry ciders, with an oxidative richness to them—kind of like sherry if you made it with strawberries instead of grapes.
Best of Both Worlds works best as a digestif, and if you're drinking it on it's own we recommend chilling it well and serving it neat (instead of pouring it over ice). It's dry and balanced, and doesn't need the dilution of ice cubes. We're usually drinking a glass after dinner.
It works great in cocktails too, but we recommend using it in place of sherry. It's counterintuitive, because Best of Both Worlds is unlike any sherry you've ever had but it's dry and oxidative like fino, just made from very different ingredients.
Below, you'll find a riff on an Adonis (a cocktail that's usually equal parts sherry and vermouth). We also love mixing it into simple spritzes with our strawberry ciders: Soif or Mirabelle. Keep scrolling for cocktail recipes.
17% ABV | 200mL
Ingredients: Grapes, strawberries, mint. Gluten free.
Wild ferment. Vegan.
- 1.5 oz Best of Both Worlds
- 1 oz Amaro Montenegro
- lemon wedge for garnish.
Stir both ingredients over ice, strain into a coupe and garnish with a wedge of lemon. Typically an Adonis is made with Vermouth instead of Amaro, but the gentle florality of Amaro Montenegro plays perfectly with the weighty strawberries and fresh mint of Best of Both Worlds.
- 2 oz Best of Both Worlds
- Mint to garnish (strawberry mint if you can get it)
- Top with Soif
Chill both bottles. Muddle mint into a Collins glass. Add ice, and pour 2 oz of Best of Both Worlds over it. Top with Soif or Mirabelle. Add some simple syrup if you prefer some sweetness (bonus points for making it strawberry simple syrup).
